Despite the cold and constant drizzle that settled in on eastern Kentucky last week, four work teams continued to plunge forward on different projects across the Mount Carmel campus. Their presence here, including both their rich fellowship and rigorous labor, was and continues to be a blessing to the faculty, staff, and students of Mount Carmel School. We want our appreciation to be as obvious as the tremendous difference these work teams make to our school, so “thank you” to all those who have given of their time to work at Mount Carmel!
One work team consisted of Henry Fitzpatrick (an alumnus of Mount Carmel who resides in Michigan), along with his son Larry and close friend Bob. This trio did electrical and plumbing work and installed several doors in our FSA Mount Carmel Museum.
Our second team (which is still here) is part of the Mobile Missionary Assistance Program (MMAP) and is made up of three couples: Mr. and Mrs. Milt Palmer, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Dahlmer, and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mowery. These MMAPers, who are with us for three weeks, have laid tile in the Boys’ Dorm showers, and have done wiring in the north wing of the Day Memorial Library
.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith from Ohio (the parents of our Boys’ Dorm Supervisors) comprise our third work team and they have been working on the same Library wing finishing the roof, hanging sheet rock, and installing windows.
Our final group was a collection of five men from different parts of West Virginia who are members of World Gospel Mission’s “Men With A Vision.” Leader Jim Hickenbottom along with his partners Ken, Tony, Jim, and Jim did wiring in the Library, the Administration building, and several of our staff homes.
At Mount Carmel, we depend on the voluntary assistance of men and women like these (many of which have been here on multiple occasions). If you would like more information about how you can visit Mount Carmel to be a part of our ministry here with your skilled labor, contact our Headmaster, Mr. Munson by phone (606-666-5008) or email (click on “Contact” at the bottom of the page).
